How The Big Give Works

Here’s a star-studded short video to explain how The Big Give works and how you can get your donation doubled with match-funding.

Why We Need Your Help

Refugee Support Group has been providing advice, support, social activities and practical help for refugees in Berkshire since 1994, but the situation right now is tougher than we’ve ever seen.

The Government are stirring up racism and hatred, refugees are being kept in inhumane conditions like at Manston detention centre, and the spiralling Cost of Living crisis is hitting already destitute refugees that are struggling to afford food and clothing.

Last year, the Afghanistan and Ukraine conflicts saw demand for our services soar by more than 460%. Now with the current situation, that demand continues to grow and we’re struggling to support the number of people that need us.

That’s why we need your help.

Get your donation doubled with The Big Give and have twice the impact for refugees in Berkshire this Christmas.

What Your Donation Will Do

This year, we are raising money to fund our three most important projects helping refugees in Berkshire.

Our Advice Service

We are raising money to fund our Advice Service that provides free, confidential legal advice and practical support for refugees and asylum seekers in Berkshire. As families arrive in Berkshire from Afghanistan, we’re expecting the demand for this service to dramatically increase.

We are aiming to raise £5,333 to fund this service for at least 2.5 months.

Our Drop In Service

We are raising money to fund our Drop In Service that provides a safe space, social interaction, English lessons, access to a Caseworker and much more for refugees and asylum seekers in Berkshire. As families arrive in Berkshire from Afghanistan, we’re expecting the demand for this service to dramatically increase.

We are aiming to raise £5,333 to fund this service for at least three months.

Our Homework Club for Schoolchildren

We are raising money to fund our Homework Clubs. Our Homework Clubs help refugee schoolchildren with their homework so that they can catch-up on missed education and achieve more at school. We’ve recently restarted the clubs after COVID and need funding to continue running them.

We are aiming to raise £5,333 to fund this service for at least six months.

This would fund two Homework Club sessions, providing help with schoolwork for roughly twenty refugee schoolchildren.
  • If you pledge £200, your donation could be worth £400.
This would fund a Caseworker for two weeks providing advice and support to roughly 25 families and individuals.
  • If you pledge £500, your donation could be worth £1,000.
This would fund our Drop In Centre for roughly three weeks, providing a safe space, education and practical help for hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers.
