Refugee Week: Careful Listening

A Refugee Week 2021 Event

Fri 18th June – Careful Listening

Working with University of Reading and Ultra-red, we held a series of online workshops introducing refugees and asylum seekers to immersive soundscapes and asking them to map out the thoughts and feelings that these sounds produced.

We also asked the people taking part to find and record their own sounds, to add to the sound collage.

The project built up to a final, live Listening Session, where the all different sounds that were assembled were presented the participants. The focus of the session was the question: What is the sound of care and solidarity?

Watch the Live Listening Session below and consider your own thoughts and feelings when you hear the collected sounds.

What Is The Sound Of Care Webinar?

You are also invited to listen to some of the sounds that were collected for the project.
