Refugee Rocks

Refugee Rocks – Rock Climbing For Refugees

Refugees Rock is a brand new free group climbing session for refugees hosted by the wonderful team at The Climbing Hangar.

The Climbing Hangar only opened in West Reading very recently, but they’ve already started running Refugee Rocks sessions here after the huge success at their other sites across the UK.

At the first session, we had a massive group of 28 refugees and asylum seekers visit the climbing centre and climb for free with training and support from the lovely Hangar couches and their volunteers.

Everyone had an amazing time at the launch and we’re excited to see the monthly sessions grow as word gets out!

We’re also pleased that The Climbing Hangar have started working with Reading City Of Sanctuary to become a recognised ‘Place of Sanctuary’ for their work supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
