Refugee Week 2024 is just around the corner, and we’re excited to announce a host of activities where you can get involved. There’s something for everyone!
Bring your friends and family to enjoy movie nights, coffee dates, museum visits and more, all the while showing your support and solidarity for the refugees and asylum seekers in our local community.
1. Movie Night
Join us for a special screening of Opponent at the Reading Biscuit Factory on June 20 at 8 PM. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy cinema while raising funds for us.
2. Coffee Time
Stop by one of our Sanctuary cafes anytime this week. Every extra item you buy offers someone seeking sanctuary a free drink and a light snack—a small gesture that means a lot.
3. Museum Visits
Experience the unique stories of refugee actors from Rank & File Theatre at The MERL and Reading Museum on June 17. More details available on the Rank & File website.
4. Support Through Giving
Consider becoming a monthly donor. With just £10 per month, you can significantly impact the lives of refugees. Set up your donations here.
5. Football for All
Cheer on the refugee football team, Sanctuary Strikers, as they play alongside BFFA and the University of Reading at South Reading Leisure Centre on June 22 from 12-4 PM. It’s a fun day out for families and football fans alike.
6. Be Seen in Green
On any day during Refugee Week, wear green to your workplace to show your support for refugees.
Encourage your colleagues and organization to join in. For more information or to request the full poster, email us at info@rrsg.org.uk.
7. Spread the word!
Download our poster and share news of our events, and use our ‘Berkshire Welcomes Refugees’ sticker (below) to show your support for refugees and asylum seekers.
We look forward to seeing you there!
