Postponed: Gospel Carols Service

Dear friends of Reading Refugee Support Group,

We’re unbelievably sad to announce that we have to postpone our Gospel Carols Service that was due to take place on Friday 17th December at Reading Minster.

In light of the recent government announcements, and with the COVID situation worsening every day, we have decided that it is not safe to hold the concert at this time. While this is hugely disappointing, the safety of our supporters, staff and crew is paramount, and we feel it would be irresponsible to go ahead.

We are working hard to agree a new date quickly, and we will announce this as soon as we are able to. All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date.

Reading Refugee Support Group and Reading Community Gospel Choir have been working really hard to make the show a success, and we are truly gutted to cancel it for the second year in a row because of COVID. We very much look forward to sharing the show with you when it is safe to do so.

We were hoping to raise money at the show to fund for our frontline services supporting refugees and asylum seekers in crisis across Berkshire.

Since the recent Afghanistan Crisis, we’ve seen demand for our services grow by more than 400%, as we support 25 families settling in Berkshire permanently, as well as more than 700 men, women and children being temporarily housed in hotels locally.

If you are able, please consider making a donation to help us provide the advice, support and practical help so many refugees in Berkshire are depending on this Christmas.

Please head here to make a one-off or monthly donation:

Thank you for your continued support, especially at this difficult time.

From everyone at Reading Refugee Support Group, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Many thanks,

The Reading Refugee Support Group Team
