Join the RSG Team for the Reading Legal Walk and help ensure refugees and people seeking asylum across Berkshire can continue to access free, legal & holistic advice & support when they need it most.
Why we are Walking
The Reading Legal Walk is a 10km sponsored walk that raises vital funds for organisations providing free legal advice to people who could not otherwise afford it.
At Refugee Support Group, our Casework Team provides free, legal & holistic advice and support to refugees and people seeking asylum as they navigate some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives.
As immigration laws and policies continue to change, the need for specialist legal advice is growing.
Recent changes mean that some refugees will now need to renew their permission to stay after just 30 months, rather than moving directly towards settlement after five years. Changes to employment rules also mean that many people seeking asylum who are granted permission to work are now restricted to highly skilled, degree-level occupations, making it even harder to rebuild their lives while they wait for decisions.
For many of the people we support, these changes can be confusing, stressful and overwhelming. Understanding your rights, completing complex applications and navigating the immigration system often requires expert legal advice.
By taking part in the Reading Legal Walk, you’re standing alongside people seeking safety and helping raise vital funds so they can access the advice, guidance and support they need to move forward with their lives.

Distance: 10km (Roughly 90-120 mins)
Registration: 4:30pm – 5:00pm
Starts: 5:00pm – 5:30pm
The Route
The 10km walk sets off from the iconic Forbury Gardens, heading out along the scenic Thames Path, before looping back to finish in Forbury Gardens roughly two hours later. After the walk, everyone will receive a free drink.
