Will your team become the Flippin’ Champions? Newbury’s Pancake Race is back!

Join us at for an egg-static lunchtime event on Shrove Tuesday, 17 February 2026, in Market Square, Newbury Town Centre.
Sign up now and compete against teams from local businesses, organisations, and community groups, cheered on by a lively crowd of spectators.

What’s involved?

Each team is made up of four people.
Entry fee: £150 per team.
Race 12:30-1:30, prize giving straight afterwards!

Fancy dress

Whether you dress as your historical hero, movie character, a quirky pun, or something completely from another galaxy, we want to see it! We’ll be giving prizes for Best Fancy Dress and Top Fundraiser, so go all out!

What happens on the day?

Teams check-in from 11:30am, then gather for a team photo before the race begins.
The relay race kicks off at 12:30pm. Pancakes must be flipped three times as you race – poor flipping may result in disqualification!
Winner stays on.
Prize giving will follow immediately after the final race. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, along with fancy dress and fundraising achievements.

This event isn’t just about pancakes – it’s about getting the high street moving in February and supporting local businesses. Every flip, cheer, and pound raised keeps the town centre vibrant.

We encourage all teams to raise extra funds for Refugee Support Group who provide vital services for refugees in Newbury and across Berkshire. Many businesses match fundraising efforts, so check if yours does! After signing up, you’ll have access to your team fundraising page where you can encourage others to support your efforts!
